We
have at Martinez Lake a very large variety of birds year round. They
enjoy natural habitat and can be viewed from boats on the Colorado River
as well as the many side lakes and pot holes along the river. We
are adjacent to the Imperial Wildlife Refuge which is located on both sides
of the river for a 35 mile stretch with no structures other than a few
ranger cabins at Picacho State Park.
Available
to small groups are motel facilities, restaurant,
marina
and boat rentals. The boats available include canoes, kayaks,
14' aluminum boats with motors, and pontoon boats with capacities of up
to 10 people. A fishing guide is available
to take groups of up to five people fishing, bird watching, and river familiarization
so that you can do it yourself the next time.
The
fall, winter and spring seasons of the year feature most birds because
of the annual migration. There are, however, many permanent residents
that are easily observed. To customize your trip to the river, call
us at 1-800-876-7004 or click here to e-mail
us.
